Tech Giants are squeezing technology workers by outsourcing and offshoring jobs, claiming a "skills gap" that has been debunked by the MIT Technology Review (Aug. 25, 2017). Their intent is to drive down American wages, decrease benefit costs and pad their bottom line.
Most of us have spent careers in IT working long hours on "death marches," implementations, and 24/365 on-call ... only to be laid off for some foreign worker on an H-1B visa whom the company pays a fraction of what they paid us. That is the real reason for the visa program ... not some feigned "skills gap!" We are all paying the price ... while the corporate fat cats laugh all the way to bank!
IT workers across America will never gain negotiating power against the tech giants unless we unite! We can become one of the most powerful unions in the world today ... IF WE UNITE! Virtually every company is dependent in some way on our skills. We have a unique opportunity to turn the tables, and demand worker protections.
Would you be willing to pay a $20/month union due per person to create such a union? I am trying find out.
